Day 137
Back on trail.
After a tasty French Toast for breakfast, and a to go burger, we left Skykomish. There were a lot of hikers at the Stevens Lodge. Some are just arriving fresh from the trail, while others were preparing to return to the mountains. Some are just picking up their resupply boxes, while others are staying the night, either at the Mountaineers Stevens Lodge or in town. It's a nice day, a little cool in the shade.
Trailname wasn't feeling good with a cold, but he mustered every energy he had getting up the steep terrain. We've decided that we should do less miles per day to the finish so that we could really appreciate the epic sceneries of Washington.
By getting to camp before darkness, it allowed us a little more time to relax and reflect on our daily journey. There are also more hikers now so relying on having space for our tents at our planned campsite when we come in late was becoming more of a gamble.
That night, we felt the temperature dropped as the sun disappeared in the clouds, as soon as we arrived in our awesome campsite. We enjoyed dinner while we got the view of the cloud-covered mountains between the trees.
