Day 24

The benefits of taking a double zero is getting to see more hikers arrive in town

An unexpected zero was necessitated as a minor injury on my left ankle required some resting before continuing on the trail. Somehow I happen to suffer a sprained ankle a few days ago (without my awareness) and it just continued to worsen. Swelling and pain was a sign I needed a little rest. Therefore the today, it was time to say goodbye to my friend Frederick as he needed to keep moving.

Being in a trail town meant a reunion of friends and meeting new ones. Monday night tacos at the Yodeler brought in a bunch of hikers.

We were relaxing outside the grocery store, uncertain of where to stay that night, until a trail angel named Giovanni offered a bunk house in his home. We all jumped in the back of his truck. It was a glorious place that offered us the necessary items we needed. I have now started to warm up to this little trail town.

The bunkhouse was sparse, just finding a floor to sleep on. But hey it was free, because there was no cheap place to stay in the town of Wrightwood
