Day 46

Hitching is part of the thru-hiking culture. Most of the trail towns along the way are quite far and since we are traveling by foot, hitching is the only way to go. It is not a common practice in America. And it can be frustrating at times as we are often mistaken for a hobo.

And today was such an example. The 37-mile ride from Lake Isabella back to the trailhead took 3 hrs and 3 different hitches. It took pretty much the entire day. Perhaps being a solo, male backpacker did not help.

However I was glad and thankful of all the people that helped me get back on the trail. And once I got back on trail, I only hiked a few miles. I wasn't feeling it . Perhaps the next day I'll feel a bit better.
