Day 120
Zero #5. I'm so glad I decided to do an extended zero prior to the last push to the Northern Terminus. My body really needed the rest, as well as my mind. It's a big mental boost. The town of Bend was a great place to do it. I didn't really rest until the afternoon because the morning involved sending all the boxes through the Post Office and UPS to send all my resupply. This was also the place where a few clothing changes were in order. I got back all my warm sleeping baselayers that I used all the way in the Sierra. In the anticipation of the rainy and wet September in Washington, I switched out to a synthetic jacket. It was also time to try out a new pair of shoes with the Altra Timp. It was nice having a vehicle to get around town, and makes doing errands quite efficient. I was finally able to relax in the afternoon. I rested my tired body on the bed, enjoyed a huckleberry ice cream and the local bear, while watching TV, and do nothing. I'd say life is great.
