Day 15
The day started with a half day affair of never-ending switchbacks, at times nonsense, that brought me back to the desert floor to Interstate 10. The intensity of the heat started to become apparent once again.
Looking back where I came from this morning
Back on the desert floor
A couple of trail angels helped to boost our morale. Lance offered us lemonade and orange, Coppertone offered us donuts and root beer floats, and trail magic under the bridge had bananas and cold soda. These kind gestures from perfect strangers allowed us to hike further up the trail that day to the wind farm, which also meant a 23-mile day. It also meant we didn't need to hitch to the small town of Cabazon.
Frederick and I walked until sunset as it started to cool down.
After leaving the interstate highway, we walked into the sunset. It was a very exposed and windy area, as evidence by the wind farm near us. The only thing we could find to shelter us was the bushes, which can be adequate. Not much of a choice but it'll do. We shall see.
