Double Zero (0 miles)

"PCT Reunion in Lake City"

Ah finally Zero Days! After carrying a long haul from Durango, and skipping both Silverton and the Molas Campground, I can finally rest.

I'm so grateful to have friends in Lake City, Sole Sister and Campo, both of whom I met on the PCT! So awesome! This time around, on the Colorado Trail, they are my trail angels. I visited Sole Sister in 2018 and told her I'd definitely visit Lake City again when I do either the CDT or Colorado Trail. And now I'm doing the latter.

Great to see Campo and Sole Sister in Lake City, a fellow PCT 2017 alumni. Thanks for letting me stay with you guys

They picked me up from town and housed me in their home. It is so nice to finally shower after seven days, do laundry, and put on clean clothes. Ah the most simple things in life we don't even think about on the daily. After getting cleaned up, we finally had some time to catch up over some beer from Missoula, Montana. So good! Can't believe it's been four years since we did the PCT. Crazy fast how time flies.

Staying with friends on trail is amazing because I was able to actually relax my mind and my body. No running around doing errands as soon as you get in town like what thru hikers normally do. Staying in a hostel sometimes means having to buy your own soap and shampoo to clean up and going to the laundromat to do laundry. And then running around to the post office to pick up a resupply box and then to the market to buy whatever else I needed. I felt spoiled having them drive me around for anything I needed. Thanks Sole Sister and Campo.

Pretty cool, simple hostel in Lake City

My resupply

A quick cereal for breakfast before going back to the trail

After spending two nights with my friends, I decided to spend the final night at the Raven's Hostel for the convenience of getting into the shuttle the next day. The trail is quite far from town, about 17 miles. It was great to see other thru-hikers at the hostel and hearing our own individual stories about the trail.

I like this hostel. Lucky, the owner, is a really cool guy. He hiked other long trails so he knows how it is for us. He's pretty busy with other things though, only going into the hostel once in a while. When he came by that afternoon, he mentioned he was volunteering at an aid station at the Hard Rock 100 race. So cool!!! Wish I was there in the mountains to see those amazing athletes in action. I am quite fond of these 100 mile races. Perhaps at some point I will do one (maybe Leadville 100?).
