Day 135
A beautiful blue, clear sky greeted us in the morning. Although we welcomed the rain for the cool weather it brought, as well as more importantly to help put out the fire that's been rummaging through the state, we longed for the day where our tents, quilts, clothes and shoes to be dry.
We slept in to make up for hiking late last night, which is a luxury on the trail, although our brain naturally wakes up early as soon as daylight breaks.
Once we got to the top of the mountain, we took our lunch break and laid out all our gear to dry. It was gonna be a short hiking day for us, and the changing terrains and gorgeous views of Washington slowed our pace down.
As we made our descent from Piper Pass, Glacier Peak and Glacier Lake, came into view. The orange cast of the sunset illuminated the beautiful peak, as well as the surrounding mountain range.
We arrived at Glacier Lake, our chosen campsite for the night, in the dark, as usual. Surprisingly, there was not much room near the water as we set up our tent very close to each other, finding creative ways to guy our our non freestanding tent between the roots of the trees.
