Day 8
A change in the weather turned the hot desert to wet and cold. Today was a zero day for me, and perhaps unexpectedly for most because of the unexpected change in weather.
I picked up my resupply box full of food as I get ready for 4 days of hiking til the next town. We got a hitch from the local sheriff to the Post Office, and for the first and only time in my life, I got to sit in the back seat of an officer's car. I gotta say, it's not very comfortable back there.
Also this is the first time I met Blis, who will be in my future trail family in the Sierra and for the rest of the trail.
Just enjoying the scenery on this cold, gloomy, misty day
Getting my resupply box was like opening gifts on Xmas. We all enjoyed the warmth and dry roof the Warner Springs Community Center offered; interacting, exchanging our own stories of the trail, tweaking or replacing our gear, and also, more importantly, repairing our bodies from blisters that has resulted from hiking 109 miles. We are all in good spirits and ready to tackle the next few days in the rain and cooler weather, and a much needed break from the desert heat.
