Day 12

The next day, we continued our ascent and that morning was amazing! I was above the clouds and the views were unbelievable.

When views are earned

This section is my favorite so far on the PCT! As I walked along the ridge, I can see where the mountain holds all the moisture from the clouds, as the East side was barren desert.

Evidence of the forest fire that occurred in 2013 can still be seen, but the forest is slowly coming back to life.

These are the moments to remember

With the trail closure, I descended down a side trail, below the clouds. At first it looks pretty amazing, but it became a bit boring when we reached a dirt road. Upon reaching the highway, I decided to hitch a ride to Idylwild, a favorite trail town from the PCT Class of 2016, to get some needed rest.

Of course, when in trail towns, food becomes the priority and the most important thing.

I've always loved food, and I eat a lot, when I'm backpacking/thru-hiking. So yes, this pizza is all mine to consume, though the leftover may have been breakfast. And yes, porter beer and pizza, perfect combination!

Previous year's hiker trash. I did get my photo taken, for next year's showcase.
