Day 65
Outlet of Heart Lake
It was a lovely night with the white noise of the river beside us. Although it made hearing our wake up alarm in the early morning impossible for some.
Heart Lake was completely frozen and we even crossed near the outlet where a 4 foot high snow still stands.

Going up Selden Pass
Looking back South where we came from. Almost atop Selden Pass
View from Selden Pass. Looking a bit hazy today.
Selden Pass was a relatively easy pass despite being covered with snow. Not a lot of elevation gain as well as it is a steady ascent. All the big passes are now behind us.
Being on top of Selden brought back memories from last year on the John Muir Trail . The view of the section ahead was beautiful. The big anticipation of the day was the infamous Bear Creek crossing, where it was previously reported as impassable.
Marmots!!!
Glad to be able to Glissade once again.
Passing through Marie Lake
Upon reaching Bear Creek, we saw how fast the river is moving. It is a rapid! It is impossible to cross it. We then saw an arrow pointing to the left stating "log." We then went downriver searching for this log and after a few minutes of bushwhacking, we saw this freshly fallen tree that just happen to fall across the entire length of Bear Creek. We slowly traversed the fallen tree across the raging creek, grabbing onto branches to help with balance. Once touching dry ground, we felt relieved, and we celebrated! Honestly, we would have not known how we could be crossed Bear Creak if not for this fallen this, such a life saver!
The fallen tree that just happen to span across Bear Creek. A life saver!
After crossing Bear Creek, we were all relieved that we have passed through all the major passes and major river crossing on this section. We set camped in this wide open wooded area and had a chance to dry out our damp sleeping quilts. And of course, we had a little fire. We can finally have time to sit around the fire and relax to end our days.
