Day 93

We woke up with the bright sunrise gleaming its orange rays upon our small campsite, along with the loud music still stemming from the rave in the town of Belden below. As we walked through the town, we were quite surprised to see most awake, roaming the streets, as most seemed to have stayed all night partying.

Rave at night, party on the river during days in Belden

This quiet little town in the middle of nowhere is quite popping because of the Still Dreams festival. After picking up our resupply at the Braaten's, a local trail angel a short way off trail up the highway, we headed back to Belden and enjoyed the burger and a free slice of pizza at the Belden Town Resort. We stayed at the outdoor patio till the afternoon to wait out the heat. Some went for a quick swim at the North Fork of the Feather River to cool off also.

Enjoying the shade, chairs, wifi and food at the restaurant

We then tackled the big uphill out of Belden, but we left a bit too early. After three miles on an expose trail, the intense heat forced us to take an early break at a seasonal stream where we took off our sweaty shirts and poured water over our heads to cool off. After gulping plenty of water, and soaking our clothes and bandanas, we charged up the mountain, entering Lassen National Forest till we stumbled upon a very nice campsite at Myrtle Flat, where we had a much needed relaxing campfire.

Camp is always nice with a warm campfire
