Day 81
The morning hike started with smoke in the distant, covering the views of the mountains. As we continued, our olfactory senses confirms that a fire is in the air.
We met a section hiker, Scott, who section hiked the PCT every year, stated there's multiple fires up north and it'll get worse.
Today Caitlin and Indigo celebrated with 500 mile maker, as they started in Tehachapi. First of all, great job you too as you tackled probably the hardest first 500 miles ever, going through the Sierra in a record snow year, and keeping up with us PCT hikers that started from the border, with already over 500 miles of trail legs. I'm very impressed! I'm glad you got to join on what became our own trail family.
Great job Caitlin and Indigo!!! You guys are amazing
It was a very windy day and it didn't help that we were in an exposed section. We were getting pushed in every direction, using our trekking poles to help us stay on the trail. The green grass, the blooming flowers, the green shrubs reminded me of being in the movie Sound of Music.

Taking a little break as we check out the fire situation
Carson Pass was a delight where the volunteers at the visitor center provided trail magic which includes fresh fruits, snacks, and cold sodas. It was a great little stop that provided us with some energy to keep going. We soon connected with the Tahoe Rim Trail, a trail that Blis has completed previously. So cool! We ended our day at Showers Lake, with a nice campfire.
The trail is looking fantastic
