Day 29

It was a quiet night at camp last night as I was the only one there, first time I camped solo on the trail for a while. I was glad to get a proper rest. It has only been a few days since I left Wrightwood where I showered and did laundry but it seems like I am at my dirtiest and smelliest I have ever been. The stench from my hiker feet was intolerable.

Very cool!

Today was a short day as I passed thru the PCT tunnel and I finally made it to Hiker Heaven right after noon. This place is definitely a hiker heaven. After meeting Donna Saufley, the volunteers gave us a quick tour of the place.

After setting up my tent, I headed up into town to get some hot food, which meant a nice meaty pizza. Getting into town and eating normal meals is always an opportunity to gain back some calories lost when hiking in the mountains.

Even though staying in town usually meant sleeping in an actual "normal" bed, it is quite nice sleeping in the tent because I have my own little space and I can spread out all my stuff inside my two person Zpacks Duplex tent. Overall, it is still quite nice because of the ability to eat regular town foods and the opportunity to meet up with other hikers in this quaint little heaven.
