Day 77

The high Sierra is hard to beat when it comes to its amazing beauty, and the rest of the Northern Sierra continues to offer breathtaking views.

From camp at Kennedy Canyon Creek, we decide to go off-trail and go straight up towards Summer Chute, to avoid traversing a steep section of the snow-covered trail. It was a hard route because of all the loose rocks as we go went up this steep mountain. At this time, I have accepted that the trail can sometimes suck, but it's only temporary. Therefore, unlike some, I dealt with it.

At the pass by Summer Chute

Once we made it to the pass, the view of bald mountains covered with snow was spectacular. We could see for miles! The change in scenery was definitely evident. Only 8 miles to go for the rest of the day and should be (mostly) downhill from here on.

We haven't truly escaped snow today!

This snowfield by Latopie Lake is so gorgeous!

The rock formations are beautiful!

Last break of the day!

One last uphill! So many snowfields to end the day!

Looking down towards Sonora Pass. At last a pass that we actually go down to!

We made it down to Sonora Pass and we were greeted with a surprise trail magic from Chipmunk. He drove more than 3 hours from his home. A couple doing a road trip from the East Coast also joined him in providing trail magic. The trail really do bring out the best in people and it's just not for people who are actually hiking the trail.

We then headed to Bridgeport to resupply and rest our tired body in comfortable beds in a cheap motel of course.
