Day 99

We woke up refreshed after catching a bit on sleep, although I much preferred waking up naturally when I'm in town, rather than hearing the daily alarm I hear on the trail. A delicious breakfast at the local country cafe was a delight to start the day. Town meals really are a joy, as it gives me a break from the usual protein bars, tuna or salmon, bread or tortilla, and pasta with summer sausage.

A trail angel named Phoenix gave us a ride back to the trail in his work van. A trail magic about a mile into the hike was a nice surprise. As we were having lunch at Burney Falls State Park, a stranger came to our tables and offered us fresh fruits and cookies. The trail really brings out the best in people.
