Day 128

Huckleberry town, aka Trout Lake.

My cravings for huckleberry was finally fulfilled at breakfast at the Bear Creek Cafe. Huckleberry pancake, huckleberry milkshake, huckleberry latte, huckleberry pies, huckleberry cheesecake, and even huckleberry mimosa.

Our breakfast was so filling that it powered us back up the mountain when we got back on trail. The trail brought us really close to Mt. Adams, as we could see the melting glacier atop of it. That day, we noticed a thick cloud of smoke on the south side, which we later learned was the Eagle Creek fire that resulted in a hundred or so hikers being trapped and then thankfully rescued. It was also the last time we got to see Mt. St. Helens, as well as Mt. Rainier, as the smoke got thicker from the fire north of us.
