Day 43


Welcome back to the desert and albeit we appreciated​ the drop in temperature, it brought along wind speeds of 25-30 mph with wind gusts that pushed us in every direction as we made our way along the mountain sides. Hiking on loose sand made the trek quite exhausting.

This section was very windy, I will never forget it.

Today was also one of the driest section of the trail and we're thankful for trail angels, as they provided two water cashes in an otherwise 42 mile dry section. The alternative would have been carrying a lot more water and hiking out 2 miles off trail. Shades and wind protection was provided only by numerous Joshua Trees. It was an exhausting day ending on the top of the mountain, where wind gusts continued through the night.
