Day 52

This year was a record snow year and altho much of the trail was covered in snow, it's the water crossings that are worrisome. This summer in the Sierra meant all those snow melt had turned the streams into creeks, creeks into raging rivers and the rivers into rapids.

The first big water crossing of the day was Rock Creek and it was raging! Going upstream into the meadow made it much easier as I was able to cross a few logs then cross a four foot section. This was gonna be the theme of the Sierra, going upstream to find a shallow, slow moving part of the creek or river to cross.

I was glad Whitney Creek was slow moving and only thigh deep, before arriving to camp at Crabtree Meadow. This was our basecamp for summiting Mt. Whitney.
