Day 106
Etna.
What a cool tiny town. The hike in was a little tougher than we thought. The elevation gain, the exposed rocky sections, and the heat were contributing factors. We made it to the highway where Blossom were waiting to pick us up and take us to the Hiker Hut, the hostel in town. Blossom is actually a thru hiker we met back in Big Bear Hostel but recurring injuries have forced her off trail several times but she has a big heart and determination and she soon hopes she can get back on trail.
The hostel is nice and laid back, not many hikers stayed surprisingly. Most got their resupply in town and headed back to the trail on the same day. The bicycles available are very convenient in getting around and getting things done efficiently. Not many to do or places to go in this little town tho. The brewery was closed on the day we were there. We went to Dotty and Bob's Ranch House for lunch and dinner, respectively, and the local market. That was it. But at the same time it was also nice because it allowed us to relax at the hostel. And as always, the day goes by fast and next thing I knew, it was bedtime, as we are going back to the trail early in the morning.
