Day 27
The ankle injury is manageable but I am reminded of it in the downhill, even on a flat trail. There are more exposed sections and it was evident when we encountered an elderly hiker who seem to suffer from heat stroke. We offered him some electrolyte drinks to help temporarily and then called the Forest Service where medical personnel aided in his recovery. It's an unfortunate situation but it's a reminder that we are still on the desert section of this long trail. The day ended with setting my tent up as the clouds came in along with a drop in the temperature. It was bound to be a somewhat restless night with the tent flapping in the high wind.
