Day 110
Morning on the way to crossing Oregon
August 16, 2017 @ 11:45am, we reached Oregon!
We all lined up, arms joined together, and made a big leap from the state of California to Oregon. We all jumped for joy, screaming, gave each other hugs, as we celebrated another milestone in our journey.
I can't believe I've hiked 1,689.2 miles, traveling the entire state of California by foot. We were very lucky to have walked the entire state without having to detour because of the multiple, ongoing fire.
Such an amazing experience, going through different seasons, diverse sceneries, unique cultures, and meeting so many people, both on and off trail.
Thru hiking can be overwhelming at times, especially when one thinks of walking the entire span of the country, border to border. But sometimes I think of it as completing one section at a time, and achieving success along the way, until that day when I finally reach the Canadian border, 960.8 miles away.
We ended our day early at the Grouse Gap shelter since we only have about 9 miles to go tomorrow to get to Callahan's Mountain Lodge, where Blis' wife Meg will meet us. Also we get to have a big, wonderful brunch. At the shelter, it was nice to just cowboy camp a room and relax.
