Day 54
After resting my tired brain, it was time to continue on the trail. The group that I summited Whitney left yesterday afternoon, and my other group of friends left early this morning to also do a sunrise summit.
Three big water crossings are ahead of me today with the plan of setting camp before Forester Pass. Wallace Creek was an easy crossing right at the trail, but the second, Wright Creek, required going upstream all the way to the meadows before I was able to find a safe passage. It was still quick moving water though.
Fortunately I was able to find 3 other people before crossing Tyndall Creek, because it was a raging river. We hiked upstream for about a mile before finding a relatively safe spot. The water was definitely moving quite fast, requiring every strength of my body to cross, leaning forward as far as possible. Having a few people around me sure helped me feel safe. I doubt I could have done it solo and the alternative would have been to keep going upstream.
After crossing, we then rested and let our freezing feet dry. We then hike for a mile to find a campsite for the night, at tree line, about 4 miles before the pass. It was a long day and we needed an early rest. We all planned to do Forester Pass together. It's good to have people to go with for safety reason.
Lots of snow!!! It is so bright that my eyes are hurting.
