Day 48

A short day of hiking ended on a small, sandy riverbank by the South Fork Kern River, where I dipped in the cold water. It was very refreshing after hiking on the exposed desert and it also provided relief on my sore feet. The amount of dust is more noticeable in my sun-burnt legs.

The dip in the river might be the cleanest I'd be before hitting town, albeit a very small town that is Kennedy Meadows. The river is a sign that we are finally leaving the desert pretty soon. We spent the rest of the afternoon, and the night, beside a log, about ten feet from the fast flowing river. Some played the hot seat game, where the person answered any random questions thrown at him/her. Some answers are quite hilarious. It was a good day to just relax and get to know a few new hikers.
