Day 87

An early start greeted us with a stunning sunrise overlooking Squaw Valley. We made our descent from Granite Chief on a snow covered trail below the ski lift.

We're just skiing down with our shoes

The surroundings are ever changing in this section. The treeless mountain tops are covered with colorful flowers. Spring is definitely in the air. Upon reaching the top near Tinker Knob, we were awed by the magnificent view of the mountains as far as the eye can see. The snake-like trail of the PCT can be seen for miles as it makes it's way along the top of the ridge and along the side.

As we got closer to Donner Pass, the rocky terrain are surely felt by our always aching feet.

We had a special trail angel in Truckee, as Caitlin's aunt, Laura, picked us up at the trailhead, and drove us around town to take care of our hungry bellies and our resupply needs. We then stayed at her lovely home, where we were pampered with home cooked meals. It was an amazing day.
