Day 124
Hiking down to the Columbia River Gorge
Mt. Adams in the distance
Columbia River
Almost to Cascade Locks
It was all downhill from from camp. We we pushed ourselves to have a nice hearty brunch at Bridgeside restaurant in Cascade Locks. It was so good! The pies were also magnificent. We then picked up our resupply packaged from the post office.
View of the Columbia River and Bridge of The Gods from Bridgeside restaurant
We then had the PCT Hikertrash burger at the Cascade Locks Ale house for a late lunch, which is a combination pizza and burger. Best burger on the trail so far!
Also it was a lot of food. All three of us was not able to finish everything. Hard to believe, with all the hiker hunger we had, our appetite surrendered.
Being in Cascade Locks signified a few important things. It is the lowest point on the PCT at almost sea level and crossing the Bridge of The Gods over the Columbia River meant we entered a new state, that is Washington.
Looking towards Washington state before crossing Bridge of the Gods
Crossing the bridge
It was an unbelievable experience walking across the bridge, with the wind blowing, cars passing, and seeing the river beneath our feet. It was a bit unnerving to be honest, walking through the open channels under our feet, seeing the water 140 ft rushing below us.
California and Oregon done, onto Washington state
It's hard to believe that we're done with Oregon and now we're on the last stretch of the trail, with about 500 miles to the finish. It's nice to have clear skies, finally escaping the smokes of Oregon. Final push to Washington, I've never been more excited!
That night when we got to camp, we were barely hungry as we were still quite full from the PCT Hikertrash burger.
